Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi has commented on Kylian Mbappe's future at the club amid the links with his former rivals Real Madrid.
Mbappe revealed this week that he did inform PSG in July about wanting to leave in order to secure a move to the Spanish giants.
However, PSG were reluctant to sell the French star and managed to hold on to the player in the last transfer window despite two late bids from Los Blancos.
Messi is hopeful that the 2018 World Cup winner will remain in the French capital to achieve their objectives.
"Honestly, I just arrived and I do not know enough, but like everyone else, I'll wait to see what happens," Messi told France Football.
"If it (Mbappe's future) is finally with us, it will be a great joy and an element to achieve our objectives."
The Argentine added that he gets along quite well with Mbappe, even though he only joined a few months ago.
"(It's been) Super good from the first weeks," he added.
"In addition Kylian speaks perfect Spanish and with a player like that it is easy to understand each other."
"The good relationship off the field makes things easier and although it is still too early to draw conclusions, I am sure it will go well."
