FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has climbed into seventh position among the players with more than 600 senior goals to their names, closing in on longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine has already scored eight goals in seven appearances for the Catalan giants this season, and, overall, he has now scored 560 times for Barcelona, and has another 65 goals for Argentina.
In doing so, the 31-year-old overtook Benfica and Portugal legend Eusebio, who retired with 621 goals, while Messi now sits on 625 strikes for club and country.
Next in the list of the most prolific goalscorers in history is Messi's longstanding rival Ronaldo, who currently sits on 659 goals.
The Portugal captain scored 450 times for Real Madrid, 118 times for Manchester United, three times for Sporting Lisbon and has added another three strikes since joining Juventus. In addition, he has netted 85 times for Portugal.
