'Lionel Messi Can’t Win FIFA World Cup Alone!'
There is a great debate that FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi needs to win the FIFA World Cup to be considered on the same level as Diego Maradona. An important figure has now claimed he cannot do it alone.
Many supporters and pundits alike have claimed that if the 30-year-old is to be regarded as great as the likes of Maradona, or even as the greatest player in history, he needs to win the biggest trophy in football – the World Cup.
Argentine Football Association chief Claudio Tapia believes despite the 30-year-old being arguably one of the world’s best players, he will not be able to lift the trophy all by himself.
"Football has evened itself out," Tapia told La Nacion.
"We have the best player in the world but we have to help him, he cannot to do it alone.
"He's very mature and to have him is a privilege. He's number one, he has the ambition and the need to win this World Cup."
Argentina were drawn against Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria in Group D at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
