FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi once again wrote his name into LaLiga’s history books after beating his longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo to another impressive record.

The Argentine scored a hat-trick in his side’s 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna, which secured them their 25th LaLiga title – the seventh in 10 years – on Sunday.

With his first strike, Messi reached 30 LaLiga goals for the 2017/18 campaign and he has now achieved this milestone in seven out of the last nine seasons.

In doing so, he became the first ever player to score at least 30 goals in LaLiga in seven different campaigns, as Opta pointed out.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, was also chasing the same record this season, having hit the 30-goal mark in six of his previous eight campaigns. However, the Los Blancos superstar is currently stuck on 24 LaLiga goals after being rested in three of Real’s last five league fixtures.

True, Messi is only good at La Liga. He can do anything there but when it comes to stronger competions outside, he flops. Ronaldo will always be a step ahead maybe because he has played in 3 leagues thus far.

@Chicharito07 the only reason Ronaldo shines more than Messi in ucl nowadays is because always gets rested before important matches.

@barca-baccaneers you couldn't have said it much better.. if you judge Messi only on goals scored you're missing the mark big time.. He doesn't only make goals he cool them in a manner that only Him can.. what a player.. blessed to live in this era to witness the magician in action

Oooh good ppl, are you still talking LaLiga?? Madrid ppl are talking about thw real deal......UEFA CHAMPION'S LEAGUE. As for LaLiga, theae SECOND FIDDLE COWS are still left with 8 titles before they can run naked here. As for sis-messi, he needs to either lead Argentina to international victory (whether globally or at least continentally) OR win the UEFA CL with another team......then we can talk. As for now, he is nothing but a barCOW grossly inflated COW.

People forget that messie has dominated since his younger age. Meaning he got matured first than most of the players. For example he won a gold at the Olympic and also won a world cup for junior side of Argentina. I know maybe those don't count at the senior level.

@ProffessorS I think you are mistaken with the most goals scored in a single campaign.

@Voltaire they both have won 4 ucl titles but messi never played the 2006 finals and ronaldo is the1st player to score in 3 different finals, should i also remind u that cr7 is way ahead of messi in terms of goals scored in ucl, also record holder of most goals scored in a single campaign,so yes statistically messi is dominant in la liga but cr7 is more dominant in ucl& oh lets not forget that cr7 has won a major trophy with Portugal

If he was there from the beginning to lead his team, Barcelona would have not won it with so many games remaining.
