Popular football writer Guillem Balague claims to have answered one of the game’s biggest questions on the Argentine forward - Can Messi do it on a cold night at Stoke City?
While everybody recognizes Messi’s incredible talent, there have been some sceptics as to whether he could do as much damage in England, as he does in Spain.
Balague revealed he has spoken to the 28-year-old about this very topic.
“I asked Messi about that. Messi said, 'Those people that say that should realise I played in awful conditions in Rosario when I was 11 years old, with glass on the pitch, with holes and everything,' and he also played good," he told Sky Sports’ Revista de La Liga.
Balague also sat down with Stoke’s Bojan, a former teammate of Messi’s, and asked him this very question, to which the Spanish striker replied: “Messi can do it! I understand that teams don't like to come to the Britannia Stadium, especially in winter with the wind, the cold.
“We're a strong team. It's not easy. But I try to enjoy it and I try to improve my football in that situation.
“Of course. If Messi came to the Britannia he will also play good.”
