A Ligue 1 star has made a surprise claim that it has become easier to defend Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi.
Messi made the switch to the French top flight in the last transfer window after Barcelona were unable to renew his contract due to their financial issues.
Troyes defender Adil Rami faced the Argentine on 12 occasions during his time in Spain, but failed to record a single victory during that period.
However, Rami claims Messi changing his way of playing has made things a bit easier for the defenders these days.
"Granted, I never won, but there were draws and [chuckling] I got four or five shirts from him," Rami said to Ligue 1's website.
"He was too strong, back then he was always behind my back. He'd be offside and then he would move back to touch the halfway line and then go again.
"Now he's more of a passer, so it's easier for defenders as we can wait.
"I don't think he's able to do his slalom moves so much."
