Result: Reims 0-2 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 27 September 2020
Venue: Stade Auguste-Delaune II
Paris Saint-Germain registered a third straight Ligue 1 victory with a 2-0 triumph over Reims on Sunday evening.
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel made two changes to the side that thrashed Nice the last time out, as they were boosted by the return of Neymar and Leandro Paredes.
The visitors had a flying start after Mauro Icardi broke the deadlock in the ninth minute with a finish into the bottom corner after he was teed up by Kylian Mbappe.
Icardi came close to doubling the lead for the Parisians in the 18th minute with a close-range header that was brilliantly kept out by goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic from Angel Di Maria's cross.
PSG were pressurising Reims in search of the second goal in the latter phase of the first stanza as Neymar came close just before the break after slaloming his way into the box but his low shot missed inches wide.
The visitors took time before they got back into their stride in the second stanza and once they got rhythm back, Icardi finally doubled their lead just after the hour-mark with a simple tap-in after a cut-back from Mbappe.
Tuchel made a double change in the 68th minute to protect the two-goal cushion, as Ander Herrera and Marco Verratti were introduced in place of Julian Draxler and Paredes.
Reims were leaving spaces at the back trying to get something out of the game and Mbappe got away on a counter-attack in the last eight minutes from Pablo Sarabia's through ball but he lacked the finishing touches inside the box, as he side-footed his shot wide.
PSG continued to threaten sin the dying minutes, with the hosts lacking the quality to pose any serious danger but Tuchel's men were already out of sight, as they clinched their third consecutive win that took them up to seventh on the log.
