LaLiga president Javier Tebas has aimed a dig at Manchester City amid their interest in FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, saying the English giants play "outside the rules".

The 33-year-old was heavily linked with the Citizens in the recent transfer window, but ultimately did not get his desired move away from the Spanish giants.
Tebas, who backed Barcelona's stance on the matter, has now seemingly suggested that LaLiga would be fine if Messi Spain, but insisted that the team trying to sign him might be trying to do so illegally.
"We would prefer Messi to stay in LaLiga, but Ronaldo and Neymar left and we have not noticed any difference. We are ready," he said, according to Goal.
"It seems the only club in the Premier League that talks about registering Messi is Manchester City, who compete outside the rules. I am not the only one saying this.
"I am not too worried about them. I have criticised what they do so many times. Doing it one more time makes no difference.
"City is neither affected by COVID or pandemics or anything because they are financed differently, and it is impossible to fight against that."
