Amid reports suggesting that Kylian Mbappe's eventual transfer to Real Madrid is already done and dusted, Paris Saint-Germain want to make the superstar the third-highest-paid player in the world by lifting his salary to Cristiano Ronaldo's level.
The French sensation, who is said to be a childhood Los Blancos fan, has been closely linked with a move to Madrid in recent months.
According to Catalunya Radio, Mbappe will join Real when he eventually leaves PSG, with only the year of departure yet to be determined.
AS have now reported that the Madrid club's plan is to purchase him in 2021, when he will have only one year left on his contract.
In doing so, the Spanish giants hope to get him on a deal worth around €100 million (R1.6 billion), while they would probably have to pay at least twice as much this year.
The French giants, though, have not yet given up on their superstar and want to tie him down on a new whopping contract, which would see his salary being more than doubled.
It is understood that PSG want to offer Mbappe a new contract worth about €50 million (R805 million) a season, which would put him into the same salary bracket as Ronaldo.

The French giants will hope to conclude Mbappe's new deal before the 2022 UEFA European Championship, but it remains to be seen whether or not the 21-year-old will put pen to paper on a new contract.
