After scoring a hat-trick in Paris Saint-Germain's 6-1 win at the weekend, Kylian Mbappe admitted there is one thing about his relationship on the field with Lionel Messi and Neymar he believes is a shame.
The French giants defeated Clermont Foot in dominant fashion on Saturday in Ligue 1, with Mbappe and Neymar both scoring hat-tricks and Messi registering three assists.
While the resounding 6-1 hammering would have been a pleasure to watch for many neutral fans, PSG supporters might have been wondering why it has taken so long for the three forwards to link up as well as they did in their most recent league game.
Mbappe, the man of the moment, appeared to share that sentiment when, after the match on Saturday, he suggested he wished this sort of chemistry was displayed much earlier in the season.
"Yes, it's a shame it's only happening now, but then there were a fair amount of circumstances and events that meant we were delayed," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.
"But we feel that we're three quality players, and we trying to help the team as much as possible and that's what happened today.
"That's life, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, you have to keep looking forward. It's in the past now.
"We had some pain, which is still present but you need to keep positive, we have to show that we're a big club and a big team and that we're here to win trophies."
PSG were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid last month, although they are on course to win the Ligue 1 title, where they have a 12-point lead over second-placed Marseille.
