Juventus great Gianluigi Buffon has revealed why he would be happy to see Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo join the Bianconeri.
The 33-year-old, who is Los Blancos' all-time leading goalscorer, has been linked with an astonishing €100 million (R1.57 billion) move to the Serie A giants in recent weeks, and it is believed a deal could be concluded within the next few days.
Buffon, who made more than 600 appearances for the Turin side, has stated that he would not be surprised if the Portuguese makes his way to Italy, and thinks it would be good for the Bianconeri's fans.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see Ronaldo at Juventus," he told Sky Sports.
"It would make me happy because it is what the Juventus world needs, to find new idols and adore them."
The Italian was also asked if he was bothered about the fact that his former club signed Ronaldo right after his departure.
"It doesn't bother me. It bothers me the two goals that he scored against me in the final (of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League), and the ones that he got last season," he added jokingly.
"It would be the best advertising for Italian football. It is confirmation of how much Juventus, with (chairman) Andrea Agnelli and his family, can adapt to the times and even anticipate them."
Ronaldo has made 438 appearances for the Madrid club so far, scoring 450 goals and assisting a further 131 strikes.
