Former FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who spent six years playing alongside Lionel Messi for the Blaugrana, had a message for the six-time Ballon d'Or winner recently.
In 2014, the Croatian left Sevilla to join forces with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Messi at the Catalan club, where he played a lot of football and won many trophies.
After six years at the Camp Nou, Rakitic returned to Sevilla, but has since spoken candidly about his time with the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League winners.
Asked recently about how he remembers and still thinks of Messi, the midfielder only had kind words to say about the 33-year-old, and thanked the Barcelona forward for their years together.

"One hundred per cent football," he told FIFA.com.
"It doesn't matter who you are, you just have to watch and enjoy this guy. He's on another level.
"With all respect to the other greats, there's only one number one – it's Leo. To play 311 games next to him, it was a dream. I enjoyed it so, so much.
"I just want to say this: 'Thank you for everything, Leo, because you'll never know how much it meant to me to play next to you.'"
Rakitic, who recently retired from international football, made 310 appearances for the Catalans, winning 13 trophies along the way.
