The 22-year-old netted a brace in PSG's 3-2 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, ending the Bundesliga giants' unbeaten run in the competition.
The Bavarians had last tasted defeat in a UCL match in March 2019, but Mbappe and his teammates exploited their errors at the back, as well as the absence of injured striker Robert Lewandowski, to secure victory over their German opposition.
With the France sensation making the headlines once more and setting a new Champions League record, it has now been suggested that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will run out for Los Blancos next season.
"I've said that Real Madrid's objective is to sign (Erling) Haaland and Mbappe, both of them, and (David) Alaba," Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol told El Chiringuito, as cited by Marca.
"Alaba is easier and we'll have to see with Haaland if Dortmund agree to sell him this season.
"But I know that, at Real Madrid, they have more confidence about being able to sign Mbappe than Haaland.
"I think it's much easier right now for Mbappe to come to Real Madrid than Haaland.
"I consider it as done that Mbappe will play for Real Madrid next season.
"We'll see what the deal requires economically.
"I should add that Vinicius remains a target for (PSG sporting director) Leonardo. We'll have to see what Real Madrid do and what Vinicius thinks."
