With reports suggesting that FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi is considering international retirement, here is what Argentina's interim coach Lionel Scaloni recently had to say about the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's future.
The South American nation scraped into the round of 16 at 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where they were knocked out by eventual winners France.
Messi, whose performances at the showpiece were arguably below par, has not said whether or not he is still available for national team selection, but Scaloni is not too worried about the 31-year-old's situation.
"We do not have the squad list made, not even a small percentage of it," he said, as quoted by the Daily Express.
"I do not think this is the time to call Lionel (Messi). Once we have to name the squad, we will see what we do. I honestly know him (Messi) well, and I am not worried about having to talk to him.
"We want to treat him in a way that he truly knows that there is respect there and that we are most certainly going to treat him as he deserves. That is the most important thing of all."
Argentina need to name their next squad by 19 August as they are set to face Guatemala and Colombia on 7 and 12 September, respectively.
