The D-Day for Lionel Messi’s future is seemingly approaching and an insider has revealed how close the FC Barcelona captain is to making a decision.
The presidential elections at the club will take place on Sunday, with former Blaugrana surpremo Joan Laporta seen as the favourite to win.
It would be Laporta’s second stint at the helm of club and the Spaniard has expressed his confidence in keeping the superstar should he be elected.
Meanwhile, El Chiringuito journalist Jose Alvarez claims that Messi’s camp have told him he is "closer to staying at Barca" than at any point before this campaign.
The 33-year-old is understood to be excited by the new project and the team’s recent qualification for the Copa del Rey final.
