'I Wish We Could Erase Cristiano Ronaldo'
Real Madrid and Liverpool will face each other in the UEFA Champions League final later this month, and a Reds star admitted he would prefer it if Cristiano Ronaldo did not play that game.
Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno is ecstatic that his side have reached the final of Europe’s biggest club competition, following their 7-6 aggregate win over Italian side Roma in the semi-final.
The defender joked that he wishes Ronaldo will not be present for the final of 26 May, before going on to praise manager Jurgen Klopp.
"Ahead of the final, if I could, I would erase Cristiano," he told Cadena Cope.
"I have no words (for Liverpool reaching the final), it is an incredible achievement for us and now we have a trophy in our sights.
"Klopp is a very sentimental guy and he definitely has a special connection with this competition."
Moreno also hailed Egptian superstar Mohamed Salah, who became the first African to score 10 goals in a UCL campaign, ahead of the clash with Los Blancos.
"Salah is an amazing player and has been so important for us this season, we hope he can produce one more special match," he added.
Ronaldo’s 15 goals in Europe this season have played a huge role in Real qualifying for their third consecutive Champions League final, while Salah’s 10 strikes have inspired the Reds to their first UCL final since 2007.
