A former FC Barcelona star has revealed what Andres Iniesta once told him about a teenage Lionel Messi at training before being embarrassed by the then-youngster.
Ex-Brazil international Juliano Belletti was a regular when he played for the Catalan giants, with his most notable moment coming when he scored against Arsenal in the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League final.
The former right-back, like many who have played for Barcelona in the past 15 years, recently had an interesting story to tell about Messi, which involves Iniesta and a humbling moment on the training ground.
In an interview, Belletti revealed that Iniesta had attempted to warn him about then-B team player Messi, but the Brazilian was still caught off-guard by the Argentine's speed and skill.
"When Messi came out of the B team, Frank Rijkaard put him in with us in an 11 against 11 on a small pitch," he said, according to Barca Blaugranes.
"He was on the substitute team and I was with the starters.
"Iniesta caught my attention and asked me if I knew him (Messi). I said no, and he warned me: 'Be careful.'
"When he first got on the ball, I thought: 'Damn! This kid is cheeky!'
"Then, when I was preparing to approach him and take the ball off him, he'd already gone past me and scored a goal. He ran right through me."
