With it often being claimed that Lionel Messi is involved in FC Barcelona's transfer decisions, a former Blaugrana director has now reportedly revealed which superstar the Argentine wanted the club to sign.
Former Barcelona director Javier Bordas seemingly gave up some of the club's secrets during a recent interview with COPE and Radio MARCA, including how close they came to signing Kylian Mbappe.
Bordas also opened up on Messi's situation at the club, with the Blaugrana captain attempting to leave the Camp Nou in the most recent transfer window.
"The continuity of Messi depends on how he sees the team," he said.
"If he sees that they are capable of winning trophies, he will want to stay, he has always been respectful with all his decisions."

He also claimed that Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar is the only player Messi has asked the board to sign, with it being no secret that the Argentine wants the Brazilian back at the club.
"If he (Messi) asked for signings, he wanted Neymar," Bordas added.
Neymar came close to returning to the Camp Nou in 2019, and was again linked with a transfer back to the Catalan giants this year.
However, he stayed in Paris on both occasions, and now seems set to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants.
