Manchester City have reportedly made a big decision regarding their pursuit of FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.
According to Sport, the Premier League giants will not make a move for the 33-year-old ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
It is reported that the English club's board believes Messi is close to extending his contract with his boyhood club, despite rumours in recent months suggesting otherwise.
The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has been heavily linked with an exit from the Blaugrana ever since he attempted to leave the club before the start of this season, with City and Paris Saint-Germain understood to be interested in securing his signature.

Since Joan Laporta's return as president of Barca, however, there seems to be a feeling that Messi will recommit himself to the Catalan giants, particularly as results and performances have also improved on the field.
The Argentine has been in sublime form since the turn of the year, having contributed to 27 goals in 19 matches across all competitions, more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.
