FC Barcelona Star: I Would Open The Door For Neymar's Return
With Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar having been linked with a possible return to FC Barcelona in recent weeks, a former teammate of his has had his say on the rumours.
The 26-year-old, who essentially forced his way out of the Spanish club by handing in a transfer request, left the Blaugrana after the Ligue 1 side activated his €222 million (R3.23 billion) release clause in August 2017.
There have been many reports suggesting that the Brazilian left the club to get out of Lionel Messi's shadow at the Camp Nou, but no matter what the player's reasoning might have been, Croatia international Ivan Rakitic says he would welcome Neymar back with open arms.
"He hasn't said anything to me but I would open the door to him right now," Rakitic told Sport.
"Not just because of the relationship I have with him, but because of the type of player he is. I'd always have Ney on my team."
The 30-year-old also touched on the Blaugrana's upcoming fixture against reigning Premier League champions Chelsea on Wednesday.
"We play against one of the best teams in Europe, and it will be tough," Rakitic added.
"The fans should fill the stadium and make history with us. We want to go through, and we will do it for them. We have to be prepared."
Neymar has made 30 appearances for PSG so far this season, scoring 29 goals and assisting a further 19 strikes.
