Barca Send Message To Messi After Transfer Request

FC Barcelona have reportedly sent Lionel Messi an official message via fax in response to his shock transfer request.

The Blaugrana captain has been linked with an exit after growing more and more frustrated with the president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the club's board.

Although the LaLiga side has already implemented some changes following their embarrassing 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich two weeks ago, Messi does not see his future at the Camp Nou.

Quique Setien was replaced by Ronald Koeman in the dugout, while Eric Abidal left his post as technical director. However, it appears the Argentine still does not believe in the club's sporting project and wants to leave the Catalan giants.

According to Argentine outlet TYC, Messi informed the club via a fax on Tuesday that he wants to make use of a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free.

His contract reportedly includes a clause that allows him to leave for free, although it was initially understood that it had to be activated before the end of May.

However, due to the special circumstances of this season, Messi's representatives believe he can still activate the clause before 31 August.

It is claimed the Argentine informed the club he will not turn up for pre-season, which starts with medical tests on Saturday, and also not play in any friendlies.

The news has sent shockwaves through Spain and Barcelona's offices, with the board understood to have called an emergency meeting.

According to Cadena SER, Barcelona have officially responded to their captain via a fax, informing him that they will not sanction a free exit.

Instead, they want him to continue at the Camp Nou and finish his career at the club.
