Barca Make Big Messi Claim

FC Barcelona Make Big Lionel Messi Claim

By Kurt Buckerfield - May 08, 2018 09:00 PM @KurtLaduma

Superstar Lionel Messi has been linked with moves away from FC Barcelona many times over the years, but the club's president has now made a massive claim about the Argentine.

Wenger's Shock Replacement Revealed?

The Argentine has been in fantastic form for the Blaugrana this season, and was once again on the scoresheet in his side's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in Sunday's El Clasico.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently spoke about the 30-year-old, and stunningly claimed that no team has ever made an official bid for the forward, despite him being linked with several moves away from the club over the years.

"No one has ever called Barca to ask how much Messi is worth," he told RAC1.

"There is still time for Messi to win another one, two or three Champions League titles before he retires."

The Catalan club's chief also spoke about how the squad has fared over the season.

"I put an excellent rating on Barca's season. A nine (out of 10)," Bartomeu added.

"We are very happy with the work of Valverde and the players. We needed this long run of games without losing.

"We have always said that winning the Champions League regularly is not the most important thing. Madrid have had good Champions League campaigns lately. We have to continue working on this aspect to reach the finals.

"Roma's comeback was sad for us. We had the ambition to reach the semi-finals and the final.

"There was nothing wrong with the result. Roma were superior. They passed us by. The important thing is that we recovered later."

Messi Sets New El Clasico Record

Barca have won both the LaLiga title and the Copa del Rey this season, with Messi contributing to 62 goals across all competitions.

Do you think Barca will be as dominant as they are today once Messi leaves or retires from football? Let us know in the comments section below.

@SiyaVToni This year's Ballon Dor is most likely to go to an unlikely face - Moh Salah of Liverpool. It will be nice to have an African winning it after 1995's win by George Weah of Liberia.

You're lying Mr President... Also pray that Ronaldo doesn't win in that Champions League final, let alone if he scores a goal or two! He will be gone with another Balon D'or, coz we all know Messi will never shine better than Ronaldo in a world cup! He doesn't have big match temperament outside a Barcelona T-shirt!
