A former LaLiga striker has reserved special praise for FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, whom he believes the Catalans are a completely different team without.

The Argentine has been in sublime form for the Blaugrana in this campaign, having contributed to 51 goals in just 32 games already.
At times this season, Barca have struggled to perform without Messi, and have been accused of being too dependent on the 31-year-old.
Former Sevilla forward Frederic Kanoute saw his old side fall victim to the Barca captain once again on the weekend, and conceded that Messi makes all the difference.
"Barca are a great team, but obviously they have a player who always makes a difference," he told Omnisport.
"With or without Messi, Barca are two different teams. If someone doesn't see this, he doesn't understand football because he (Messi) is a special player.
"Having a player like that changes the way you play."

Messi has scored 36 times in just 35 games against Sevilla so far in his career.
