The Egyptian equalled the record for the most goals in a 38-game Premier League campaign with his strike in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, which was his 31st goal in the league this season.
Salah's 31 strikes equate to 62 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking, and he extended his lead over joint second placed Messi.
The Argentine and Lazio's Ciro Immobile follow with 29 goals and 58 points each, but both have the advantage of more outstanding games over Salah. While the newly crowned PFA Player of the Year only has three games left to add to his tally, Immobile still has four fixtures while Messi has five.
With 28 goals and 56 points, Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski is also still within touching distance of the top trio, but also has only three games left to add to his total in the Bundesliga.
Further down the ranking, Ronaldo appears in ninth position and seems to be running out of games to continue his catch-up race. He has scored an impressive 20 goals in his past 11 LaLiga appearances, but was also rested in four games during that run.
Like Messi, the Portuguese has five fixtures left to add to his current total of 24 LaLiga goals, but it remains to be seen how many of those games he will actually play.
