With many speculating that Edinson Cavani's nose would have been out of joint following Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United, the striker has revealed how he really feels playing in the same team as the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Since his arrival at the club in October 2020, the Uruguayan has become somewhat of a fan favourite in Manchester due to his relentless desire and impressive movement up front for the Red Devils.
After a productive first season, Cavani was persuaded to stay at United amid rumours he was set to return to South America, but things did not go quite according to plan when Ronaldo became available in the most recent transfer window.
Many believe the ex-Paris Saint-Germain talisman might have become frustrated by minutes being shaved off from his game time as a result, but Cavani has now revealed his admiration for his colleague.
"It's a pleasure not only for the fact that he [Ronaldo] is a football star, but also for the fact that I see the way he has to handle the brilliance of that star that he has forged in his career," he said, according to ESPN.
Eight players, including Ronaldo, who could reportedly leave the club at the end of the season:
"And to see the way he faces each training day by day is a sincere pleasure. He is one of the great players that I have played with and that arouses admiration in me.
"Today I try to learn from his way of facing football and in the little that we have talked we have some similar things, perhaps not in terms of roots, but yes to what has been the formation of each one; we have similar things in that, not in football because he's a beast.
"The important thing in the team is to complement each other, they have already seen us together and I think that beautiful and positive things have come out.
"I've always said that the pitch is the one that speaks and one must be there to give the best, train every day to be 100%.
"Hopefully we can continue to share moments on the pitch and give victories to the fans of our team, Manchester United."
