With Real Madrid wonderkid Vinicius Junior recently drawing comparisons to superstar Lionel Messi, one of FC Barcelona's veteran players has warned against likening the youngster to the Argentine.
The 18-year-old winger was a constant threat in Real's 3-0 loss to the Catalan club at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, but was unable to convert his chances.
The Brazilian went past Barca's defenders with ease at times, and many have since likened his dribbling ability to that of a young Messi.
Blaugrana left-back Jordi Alba, however, feels that comparing Vinicius to whom he believes is the best player in the world is silly.
"In the end, we're comparing him to the best in the world... bloody hell!" he told COPE.
"Vinicius is a great player. I have never said anything bad about him... We have to be sensible about it, we have to be honest.
"He is a fantastic player, one who is giving a lot to Madrid, despite his tender age. It is not easy at a huge club like Real Madrid that a kid, just 18 years old, to be creating the chances and be one of the stars in every game. That is not easy.
"But the comparison (with Messi) does not do him or anyone else any good."
Vinicius has played 26 times across all competitions for Los Blancos' senior side so far this season, scoring three goals and assisting a further 12 strikes along the way.
