Following Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick showing in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Diego Maradona has hailed the Portuguese superstar despite his affection for FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Before Juventus took on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their UCL round of 16 tie earlier this week, Ronaldo issued a rallying cry to the Italian club's fans, insisting they must believe the team can overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg.
The Bianconeri did exactly that thanks to Ronaldo's incredible hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Los Rojiblancos, something Maradona has since admitted he was very impressed by.
"Us Argentineans are proud of Messi, but Ronaldo is an animal," he told Marca.
"He said he'd need to score three goals and that's what he did."
Messi followed up Ronaldo's incredible showing by scoring twice and assisting two further strikes in Barca's 5-1 win over Olympique Lyon on Wednesday.
