Argentina legend Diego Maradona has some advice for FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Blaugrana forward is often compared to Maradona when it comes to his performances for the Albiceleste, with many believing that, in order for him to match up to his predecessor, he needs to win silverware with his country.
Maradona has now revealed what advice he would give the 30-year-old ahead of the showpiece in Russia, and insisted Messi does not need to prove himself to anyone.
"I would advise Messi to keep playing, to enjoy the game," he told Omnisport.
"He has to forget about the critics, if he can win the World Cup or not.
"He doesn't have to demonstrate anything. He has to enjoy the game on the field."

Despite Messi's failure to win a trophy with Argentina so far, he has helped them to three major final in recent years, and is also the top goalscorer in the Albiceleste's history with 64 strikes.
