After FC Barcelona were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Roma on Tuesday, new reports suggest that Gerard Pique and superstar Lionel Messi clashed after the game.
The Italian side advanced to the semi-finals after beating the Blaugrana 3-0 in Rome on Tuesday, a result that saw them go through courtesy of the away goal ruling after Barca's 4-1 win in the first leg in Spain.
According to Diario Gol, defender Pique was not pleased with Messi following their loss this week as he felt the Argentine could have perhaps put in more effort.
It has been claimed that the Spaniard called the Argentine out in the changing room after the game, although it has also been reported that Messi has been carrying an injury of late.
The 30-year-old forward and strike partner Luis Suarez have come in for some heavy criticism for their lacklustre displays in the fixture.
Manager Ernesto Valverde took responsibility for the result, however, saying he did not respond well enough to Roma's pressing strategy.
Messi was unable to score in both legs of their quarter-final tie against the Italian side, similar to last season when he failed to score against Juventus at the same stage of the tournament.
