FC Barcelona’s controversial defender Gerard Pique praised superstar Lionel Messi on Sunday, but did he throw a jab at Cristiano Ronaldo in the process?
9 Of Messi's Most Memorable Bust-Ups
The Argentine has been in superb form this season for the Catalan club, and he continued his goal-scoring run against Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday night.
Messi equalised for Barca near the end of the first-half, and he assisted Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for the goal that made it 2-1.
Pique, who is currently out injured, took to social media platform Twitter to praise Messi, and suggested that his teammate should have won the every year since 2009, suggesting Real’s Ronaldo shouldn't have received the award.
"If the Ballon d'Or were given to the best player in the world," he tweeted on his official account.
"Leo would have won it every year since 2009. He's on another level."
Confirmed: Ronaldo Signs New Long-Term Deal
Pique has not held back in the past when talking about Ronaldo and Real as a club, which is part of the reason for the unwelcome reception he gets every time he plays at the Santiago Bernabéu.
