Inter Miami owner David Beckham is believed to be interested in luring FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to his new club, which will officially join the MLS in 2020.
It was recently confirmed that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star's team, Inter Miami, will join the US' top division in two years' time.
According to the Daily Mail, Beckham feels he could convince the Argentine to leave the Camp Nou to join his club in America. Signing Messi would be a massive boost in terms of the marketing and promotion of the new franchise, while his skill could make Inter Miami title challengers.
It has been claimed that no contact has been made with the 31-year-old and his representatives, but some believe a move to the US could appeal to the player and his family.
Messi's current deal in Spain only expires in 2021, and has a release clause of about €700 million (R12.1 billion).
However, the forward has, on more than one occasion, spoken of his desire to hang up his boots at Barca.
