PSG beat Olympique Lyon 2-0 courtesy of two own goals, but it was the two clashes between Cavani and Neymar that grabbed the headlines.
The first occurred around a free-kick, when Alves was seen picking the ball up and refusing to give it to Cavani, before Neymar took it out off the right back's hands and ended up taking the set-piece.
In the second incident, Neymar and Cavani argued over a penalty kick, which the Uruguayan eventually took, only to see it being saved.
Alves has now commented on both confrontations, explaining that he wanted to take the initial free-kick himself.
"I was going to have a go myself – I had already taken the ball for the free-kick because I have already scored a few," Alves told SporTV, as cited by ESPN.
"I was confident. To me, this is nothing, the most important thing is that the team is ahead of any individual result.
"I believe that when the match is really hard and we want to make the breakthrough, we all want to take responsibility. That is what I wanted to do here, but Ney took the ball from me and ended up shooting.
"I had already taken one earlier and I tried to take this one as well, but, unfortunately, I wasn't unable to."
When asked about the penalty row, Alves insisted the collective success should be more important than who is scoring the goals.
"I believe that individual results have nothing to do with team games," he added.
"We need to play together so we can keep growing and reaching our goals.
"I believe that we are all very smart here, so we know that any result as a team is more important that an individual result, because we are playing a team sport."
PSG have won their opening six Ligue 1 games this season, with Cavani scoring seven goals and Neymar four so far.
