Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he and FC Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi have had some private chats over the past 12 months.
The Portuguese star's film, Ronaldo, in which he shared some insight into his personal life, premiered on Monday night.
In it, he comments on his "rivalry" with Messi, saying that he and the Argentina captain have shared some personal conversations in the past few months.
"My relationship with Messi in the last year was much better," he revealed in the movie.
"We've spoken more about ourselves to each other. He asked me about my injury, about how my old injury was from the 2014 World Cup. He also asks me about my family."
Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United in 2009, and although he had already won a Ballon d'Or during his time at the Red Devils, it was then that fans and critics began comparing him to Messi.
Considered the best players of their generation, the Portugal captain and the Argentine have terrorised European defences since their arrival on the scene.
