The 33-year-old believes Brazil, Spain, Germany and Lionel Messi's Argentina will be among the strongest teams in Russia, and admitted that Portugal are focused on just making it out of the group stage.
"We are not the favourites, we have to be honest," he told Desimpedidos.
"There are teams with more names, like Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina, but in football everything is possible.
"We are going to try to advance from the group stage, then we'll see. The main objective is the first phase."
Ronaldo inspired his country to glory at the 2016 European Championship, during which he scored three goals and assisted a further three strikes.
