A former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo insists the Portuguese superstar, not the best player to have ever played for Real Madrid, despite being the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The former Manchester United winger stunned the world when revealed that his time in Madrid has come to an end and that he decided to start a new life in Italy with Serie A giants Juventus.
Spain international Dani Carvajal, who played alongside the 33-year-old until last month, revealed in an interview that he considered former club captain Raul as Los Blancos greatest ever player, although Ronaldo has all the records.
“Raul. I identify with him a lot,” the right-back answered, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“He is a squad player, a player who won everything based on work and effort.
“I think it is not the player that you say, "He is the fastest, he is the one who has the best control of the ball, the one who better heads-up".
“But he did everything right. For the goals he has done, for what he has given Real Madrid, for me - he is the flagship player of Real Madrid.”
Raul played 741 games for the Spanish giants in his career, scoring 323 goals and assisted in a further 65 strikes.
