Ronaldo Gives Further Insight Into Why He Joined Juve

Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored eight minutes into his unofficial debut for Juventus on Sunday, has given further insight into his reasoning for leaving Real Madrid to join Juventus.

The 33-year-old made his first appearance for Juve in a traditional friendly against the club's B team on Sunday, which the first team won 5-0 courtesy goals from Ronaldo, Dybala (2), Claudio Marchisio, and an own goal by the goalkeeper.

Ahead of the game, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner sat down with Juventus TV to discuss why he joined the Serie A giants.

"It's a great club, first of all," Ronaldo said.

"Since I was a child, I knew this team and I hoped that one day I could play there.

"Now I will play for a fantastic club, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I'm happy."

Back in April, he scored with a bicycle kick against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, and received a rousing standing ovation from the home fans. Ronaldo revealed that this show of appreciation by the Bianconeri supporters played a part in his decision to join the Italian giants.

"I don't have a precise moment when I decided (to join Juventus)," he added.

"During the years, we played a few times against Juve and I had a special feeling that the Italian supporters like Cristiano.

"In the Champions League against Juve, a quarter-final, you score a goal and see everyone in the stadium applaud you. It was an unbelievable feeling.

"I felt surprised at the beginning. I am used to following Juve and I like the club, but since that moment I liked them even more. I won't say it was the key point in my decision, but every detail helps."
