Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks 71yo La Liga Record
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was once again on the record hunt against Sevilla on Saturday, and his brace in that match helped him beat FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi to a 71-year-old La Liga record.

The Portuguese scored only his fourth and fifth goals of the current La Liga campaign as Los Blancos thumped Sevilla 5-0 on the weekend. In so doing, he became the first player in history to score at least 50 goals in seven consecutive years.
However, Ronaldo also wrote his name in the history books for becoming the record scorer against a single club in the history of the Spanish top flight.
Sevilla are Ronaldo's favourite opponent as he has now scored 27 goals in 18 games against them. In La Liga, though, his record is even better as he has now found the back of the net 25 times in 15 league appearances against the Andalusian side.
As a consequence, he broke Guillermo Gorostiza's 71-year-old La Liga record, as pointed out by Marca. The former Athletic Bilbao and Valencia striker scored 24 goals against FC Barcelona, his last in the 1945/46 season.
Messi, who sits in joint-third place for goals against a single La Liga club, missed his chance to break Gorostiza's record when he drew a blank against Sevilla earlier this season.
The Argentine also has the Andalusians as his favourite opponents but has only scored 23 league goals against them so far. He shares his personal best against a single La Liga club with the league's former all-time record scorer Telmo Zarra, who netted 23 times for Athletic against Celta Vigo.
Overall, though, Messi has 29 goals in 31 appearances against Sevilla in all competitions.
