Ronaldo Beats Messi To Another Impressive Record

Cristiano Ronaldo beat longstanding rival Lionel Messi to another impressive milestone, while Real Madrid broke a 73-year-old FC Barcelona record, on Wednesday night.

The Portuguese inspired his side to a late comeback as they drew 3-3 with Las Palmas to salvage a point from the match.

Real began the game with a bang, scoring through Isco after just eight minutes – that goal meant Real have now scored in 45 successive fixtures, a new Spanish all-time record.

Barcelona previously held the record after scoring in 44 consecutive matches in 1944.

Ronaldo's two goals took his tally for the season to 25 goals in all competitions, which means the 32-year-old has now scored at least 25 goals in his past 10 seasons.

In so doing, Ronaldo has beaten Messi to this impressive record.

The Portuguese last failed to score 25 times in a single campaign at club level during the 2006/07 season, while Messi failed to hit the back of the net 25 times in 2007/08 but has done so in every other season since.

Overall, the Argentine has scored 465 club goals since 2007/08, eight more than Ronaldo's 457.

Despite the two records, it wasn't all smiles for Los Blancos as they lost their La Liga lead to Barcelona. The Catalan giants, who thumped Sporting Gijon 6-1 on Wednesday, overtook Madrid on the log, but Zinedine Zidane's men still have one game in hand.
