The Portugal captain guided his country to the inaugural UEFA Nations League title after they beat Netherlands 1-0 in the final on Sunday night.
As a consequence, Ronaldo has now lifted two international trophies with A Selecao, namely the UEFA Nations League and the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
The 34-year-old is ahead of rival Messi in terms of international trophies with two to zero, but trails 31 to 34 in terms of overall medals in their trophy cabinets.
Messi is yet to win a senior international title with Argentina, although he did win the U20 FIFA World Cup in 2005 as well as an Olympic gold medal in 2008. Both, though, do not count as trophies in his senior career.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has now taken his tally to 31 pieces of silverware after claiming two club trophies, namely the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana, this season.
His trophy haul in nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu saw him lift four UEFA Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, two Spanish Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups and three UEFA European Super Cups.
In addition, he also won 10 trophies during his six-year stint with Manchester United – one Champions League, three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup and two FA Community Shields, while he lifted the Portuguese Super Cup early in his career with Sporting in 2002.
Despite failing to lift a trophy with Argentina, Messi remains three titles ahead of Ronaldo in their internal medal comparison.
So far, the Argentine has won 10 La Liga titles, eight Supercopa de Espanas, six Copa del Reys, four Champions League trophies, three FIFA Club World Cups and three UEFA Super Cups.
Messi, though, could lift the 2019 Copa America this year, with the tournament set to start on Saturday.
