Brazilian Ronaldo Nazario: Neymar Has Taken A Step Backwards

By Keegan Kruger - Jan 12, 2018 09:30 AM @KeeganKruger

Neymar's decision to leave FC Barcelona for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain is a backwards step in his career, according to Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario.

Neymar Rated World's Most Valuable Star, Ronaldo Drops To 49th

The 25-year-old made the move to the French side after they activated his €222 million (R3.31 billion) buyout clause in August 2017, making him the most expensive player in the world.

During a recent interview with former Brazil international Zico, Ronaldo admitted that he was surprised by Neymar's choice, and feels it was a step in the wrong direction.

"Sportingly, the decision is a step back, but there are challenges that everyone seeks," the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"I played in Barcelona at the time and went to Inter when the Italian championship was much more competitive."

Neymar has made 22 appearances for his Ligue 1 side so far, scoring 20 goals and assisting 14 further strikes.

I believe the move was more motivated by money . He is earning a double pay from PSG and will be able to spend his money while he retired . But football wisely it is a step back foward .Frech is league is not that competitive comapared to La liga and Epl .

Neymar made the BEST ever decision in his entire lifetime to join PSG; albeit it initially seems a "step backwards". In the near future the same Neymar can potentially join Real Madrid or even Manchester United, where it is easier to come to prominent light and fame. That's it!

Neymar is already a brand Ronaldo please accept that he's currently the most sought after player in the world. In your view Ronaldo, playing for Barca and making less money is better than playing for PSG and being the rich guy Neymar is. No other player occupied media houses the same as this guy when they played for PSG, why do you think he does? The answer is simply that he's a big brand even bigger than PSG itself.

Yes it's a step back, But Neymar won everything with Barca so why must he stay there forever instead of making more money, memories and travel the world like Ibra? Players need to think for themselves also not only for the team...Good luck to all brave footballers out there

true, the only chance he has to win ballon dor is if he wins uefa with PSG and world cup, he can score 100 goals in france but they have less meaning than the 4 goals scored by ronaldo ,
