New Brazil coach, Dunga, says Barcelona striker Neymar Junior is not a super star just yet.
Dunga admits he is the best player Brazil has to offer at present, but he will not be counted among the super stars of the sport until he wins a World Cup.
“He's the best player in Brazil, but no star,” said Dunga.
“To have star status, you have to have world champion credentials on your back.
“But we are going to work to make sure that, when he's with the Selecao, Neymar performs above the level that defines a star.”
Neymar was in fine form for Brazil during the 2014 World Cup, but a back injury in the quarterfinals cut his tournament short.
Moreover, without the services of Neyamr in the semifinals against Germany the Selecao were thumped 7-1, and Dunga feels criticism of the then coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was unjust.
“It is easy to say [critical things], to point out the faults in idols,” added Dunga.
“[Scolari] is a winner, competent and principled.
“Brazil conceded the first goal and Germany didn't allow them to breathe.”
