Bayern Munich chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has laughed off rumours linking the club with a stunning €250 million bid for Lionel Messi.
The German giants have continuously been named as one of the clubs who could afford the services of the Argentine, but Rummenigge dismissed any chances of Messi leaving Barcelona.
“Messi and Barcelona are like a marriage for a lifetime,” he told Kicker.
“They should not be separated from each other, just like Bayern and (Philipp) Lahm.
“I know those in charge at Barcelona pretty well, they will never sell him. He has a 250 million-euro release clause, Messi has to stay at Barcelona.”
Messi has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou ever since allegedly falling out with Barcelona coach Luis Enrique in early January.
However, the Argentine, as well as his club, have continuously dismissed such talks and Messi has responded with eight goals and five assists in the five games since the reported clash with Enrique.
