After he was quoted as blaming superstar Lionel Messi for his struggles at FC Barcelona, striker Antoine Griezmann's camp has responded to rumours of a reported row with the six-time Ballon d'Or winner.
France Football recently published an article attributing quotes to Griezmann that he believes Messi is the main reason for a perceived slow start with the Spanish giants.
The report stated that the Frenchman told friends of his that a number of his Blaugrana teammates are jealous of him for winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018, especially Messi, with Griezmann adding that he will not let his colleagues get him down, and that all he can do going forward is put on a happy face.
It was also claimed that the 28-year-old's wife is unhappy in Barcelona, and that her displeasure could lead to the forward seeking a transfer away from the club.
Griezmann, however, through his representatives, has now denied the story, with SPORT reporting that "nothing could be further from reality. These 'comments' do not exist. SPORT has learned that the forward has never spoken with France Football, nor has he given them an interview.
"The comments which he supposedly said have never been said, not even to those closest to him."
Contrary to France Football’s story, Griezmann has posted respectable numbers since his arrival at Barcelona, with the forward having contributed to 16 goals in 32 matches for Barca so far this season.
