An upset Lionel Messi has denied sensational reports that he could help his former teammate FC Barcelona Ronaldinho get out of jail.
The Brazil and Barcelona legend remains in prison in Paraguay after being caught with a fake passport a couple of weeks ago.
Ronaldinho and his brother have to stay in jail until the investigation of their case is completed, which could reportedly take up to six months.
On Friday, it was claimed that Messi was keen to get his former teammate and friend out of jail by hiring lawyers to help his case or pay his bail.
However, Messi – via his representatives – has since denied the rumours, with the Argentine said to be annoyed with the fake news.

"Messi is very sad about Ronaldinho's personal situation, but at no time has he made any economic or judicial movement to remove the Brazilian ex-footballer from jail," Spanish publication Sport claimed.
"He has not put his lawyers to work on the case nor is he going to pay the four million euros of bail."
In the meantime, Ronaldinho played in a prison futsal tournament, scoring five goals and assisting another six goals in the final as his team won the competition.
