His Argentina colleague Di Maria has now revealed that as soon as he discovered Messi wanted to quit the Blaugrana, he sent him an image that showed how the six-time Ballon d'Or winner could line up in the Paris Saint-Germain squad.
"The first thing I sent Messi when I found out he didn't want to continue at Barcelona was an Instagram capture where I told him how PSG could play with Messi," he told Argentina-based station Continental.
