A former Manchester United flop has made a huge admission about national teammate and FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
Argentina international Angel Di Maria is one of the few people in world football who can lay claim to having played alongside both five-time Ballon d'Or-winning duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi.
The 31-year-old spent four trophy-laden years at Los Blancos where he was a teammates of Ronaldo's, while the Paris Saint-Germain attacker has the honour of being able to play alongside Messi for La Albiceleste.
Di Maria, who is known to be good friends with compatriot Messi, recently highlighted his huge admiration for international teammate, claiming he would be willing to forget his ties with former team Real in order to join Messi at the Blaugrana.
"I love playing with (Messi). I love watching him in training, too," Di Maria told Ole.
"The things he does, it's something unique – it's impossible to explain.
"I had the chance of going to Barcelona and it did not happen. And the truth is that if I was going to go, it was to be with him, to see him every day. When he's on the ball, I'm a spectator.
"My relationship with Real Madrid is over because my cycle has ended there.
"Frankly, I would have no problem playing at Barcelona.
"The only club I couldn't sign for is Newell's Old Boys because I'm a big fan of Rosario Central."
