The 23-year-old has produced some big moments at the tournament in Cameroon so far, having scored two direct free-kick goals in his past two matches to inspire Morocco to victory.
On 18 January, in a group-stage match against Gabon, the former Real Madrid starlet stepped up to score from a set-piece in the 84th minute to equalise for his side in a match that ended 2-2.
Hakimi repeated his brilliance with yet another superbly struck free-kick on Tuesday night, with the goal this time securing his country a spot in the AFCON quarter-final stage with a 2-1 win over Malawi, who had opened the scoring in just the seventh minute.
Speaking after the game, an enthused Hakimi said he might be speaking to his club colleagues upon his return from the competition with regards to dead-ball duties.
"In Paris, we have a lot of players who can take free kicks," he told ESPN.
"There's Messi, Neymar, Mbappe; I try, but it's difficult. I'll speak to them when I get back to Paris.
"Right now I'm focusing on the national team, but afterwards, we'll see what happens in Paris."
