An eight-year-old wonderkid has surpassed the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar to become the youngest footballer to sign a sponsorship deal with Nike.
Kauan Basile, understood to be the next great prospect in Brazilian football, has signed a three-year contract with Nike, which includes an option to extend for an additional two years, according to Marca.
The Santos youngster gained fame in Brazil after videos of skills he pulled off while playing for his club's youth ranks made the rounds on social media.
His father Andrezinho, who played for Corinthians in his heyday, believes his son has what it takes to reach the top.
"He is a player with an absurd will to win, he has a lot of technical quality," he said.
Kauan's Nike contract surpasses the deals signed by FC Barcelona superstar Messi, who secured his first sponsorship with the sportswear giant at the age of 15, and Neymar, who was first sponsored by the company when he was 13 years old, before signing with PUMA in 2020.
Real Madrid's Rodrygo Goes was 11 when he put pen to paper on his first contract with Nike.
