For the first time since 2007, someone other than Messi and Ronaldo was named the winner of FIFA's Best Men's Player prize on Monday night in London.
Modric's excellent form last season and at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia saw him collect the prestigious prize.
The Croatian beat Ronaldo and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah to the award, while Messi was not named among the final three.
Since being crowned the winner, many current and former players have given their opinion on Modric winning the accolade, including Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Los Blancos Sergio Ramos.
