The UEFA Champions League is back on Tuesday night with the first round of the knockout games, and ahead of the enthralling fixtures, here are the all-time top scorers in the competition’s knockout rounds, with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo beating FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi!

There are exciting fixtures to look forward to this week, with Tottenham Hotspur going up against Juventus on Tuesday night, and Real Madrid hosting Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Ronaldo will be looking to add to his tally of 54 UCL knockout goals in 68 matches, which is the record for this stage of the competition.

Behind the Portuguese follows FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi with 37 strikes at this stage of the tournament, with the Argentine achieving that tally in 58 matches.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller has proven he is also clinical in the knockout rounds with his 19 strikes from 45 matches, which is just one goal more than Los Blancos legend Raul Gonzalez and ex-AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko.

Robert Lewandowski has struck 17 times from 25 matches in the knockout rounds, more than Arjen Robben and Filippo Inzaghi, who scored 16 goals respectively.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is ninth on the list with his 15 knockout goals, while his former colleague Didier Drogba scored 14 times.
